This is a really beautiful and historic city. The market was interesting, the port is very scenic, and the walls and old buildings give it the appearance of a medieval European city - but in the mi… Full review by geo3

Really worthwhile place to visit. There is incredible history to explore and discover. Fascinating sites and stories to see and learn about. Full review by Ned S
We're going to Haifa in November and would like to see Acre for a day tour. Is there a need to hire a tour guide or are there guided tours available on site? Also, are the sites accessible for motorized wheelchair?

I'd say it depends on a few factors. We didn't hire a guide and had relatively little issue getting ourselves around to the sites we wanted to check out (they have maps at the visitor centers that are quite helpful). We also availed ourselves of the audio tours (via handheld players/headsets) at the Citadel (and underground Crusader City), which was great. I forget if we paid extra for that or if it was included in the cost of admission. If you want more history as you're walking between the sites, and then at some of the sites that don't have, say, audio guides, I'm sure it'd be good to have a guide. Or if you want to be able to get around without any problems at all (i.e., getting "lost"), having a guide would be useful. If you're keen to do things on your own and don't mind looking up some info on your own before or after visiting, I would say you'd be find without a guide. As for the sites being wheelchair accessible, I'm afraid I can't help you there as I don't remember. Good luck, and enjoy Akko!
We are arriving in Akko by car. Are there restrictions to where one can drive?

Is there a day tour to Acre from Haifa with transportation ? I am staying at Haifa Bay Club, would love a tour with drop-off/pick-up. Prices for a tour and time duration ? Thanks

A lot depends on your time and patience and your budget. If unfamiliar with the area, have a group of people (3 or more), and you really want a guide and have the budget (not cheap, can cost $300 to $500 US), consider a hired tour guide for the day. They can drive around and show the area as well as tailor the tour to fit your preferences. It will save you a lot of time and ensure you see the things worth seeing and have some good food. If traveling by yourself or a smaller family and have the time consider a sherut (shared cab that follows a predetermined route), bus, or train from Haifa to Akka. It is not that far, maybe 30 minutes at most between Haifa and Akka unless you hit traffic but slower with stops in Haifa and Akka. I've taken shreuts as wells as buses from downtown Haifa to Akka to go to the Old City (a bit of walking and possibly a transfer or two on the bus or sherut in Haifa) and the Baha'i Gardens just north and inland from the Old City of Akka. If you are traveling with a family or larger group, you might even consider renting a car (if possible and able to fit) for the day (driving is not that difficult). There is a tourist web site and are decent maps of Akka you can obtain online and at the Visitor's Center in Akka, but some streets are a bit winding and you can get turned around. A car is not cheap and you will end up parking the car near the "visitor's center" to the old city for much of the day, but a car would save time, given you greater flexibility, and potentially allow you to visit other sites and/or go up the coast a bit. The Old City really needs to be visited walking anyway. I've not been a fan of formal tours (with buses) unless it is a personal tour for a family group that can be tailored to your preferences.
We will be arriving in Haifa via cruise ship on Saturday April 23rd and would like to visit Akko that day. A few questions: 1. Transport: Where would we catch a Sherut in Haifa which will take us to Akko? What is the cost per person? 2.
