After travelling 3 weeks in Morocco, Fes Medina looked similar to other cities' medina - pottery, souvenirs, leather goods etc. We were told by a local guide that in fact, Fes Medina has 35,000 alle… Full review by Eve420

What a vibrant place to see and shop! So much to see - it would take at least a week to fully explore all the stores. Highly recommended ! Full review by laura a

Mehdi Boukil: I wrote several reviews regarding experiences in Fes/Fez, an incredible city our tour group enjoyed only a few hours. You may be referring to my initial reluctance to purchase a spectacular brass platter. It was not in my budget, and the next day I regretted not doing so. I wanted it for the family of the physician who virtually saved my life 17 years ago. As our tour group left Fes the next morning, the tour guide made arrangements to have the platter delivered to the hotel at our next stop. Upon returning to the States, I learned that Dr. Ettedgui's mother was born in Fes, his father in Casablanca--as was Dr. Ettedgui. I was also pleased to tour the Synagogue Rabbi Ettedgui in Casablanca. What a small world, that I visited the cities of origin of a physician who is now a friend. I mentioned another shopping issue in Fes, but that was because of limitations set by the tour guide. We were a group of 36 and not allowed to shop as we walked past many vendors. I regret not experiencing more days in Fes, and meeting the wonderful residents. I hope to return to this fabulous city, and the many others in Morocco. Given your TripAdvisor name (TourFez) I take it your are a tour guide? Do you conduct private tours? I prefer that to the rush-rush of the Globus tour I was on, virtually no chance to me local residents.

Hi, We'll be visiting Fez for 2 days in February 2020. I'd just like to ask if it's a good idea to explore Medina of Fez without a guide. We've been to Marrakesh in 2017 and explored it's Medina, without a guide & any problems.Would downloading an offline maps & GPS on the phone help in the Medina of Fez. Many thanks. Kind regards Omer

Personally I would suggest that you get a guide to take you around. 3 days is too much time to spend in the Medina. I suggest you also book a visit to the Volubous ruins. You will enjoy the seeing the countryside on your drive. The mosaics are not to be missed as they are in fantastic shape. It is unbelievable that they are 2000 years old.
