I took my son here for a father son first time trip to this museum in Charles Village on a rainy Saturday afternoon. Usually, rainy days make for a good time to go to a museum. That is unless you w… Full review by NeoWasHere

We were visiting Baltimore for a couple days of R&R, found BMA on Trip Advisor - and it was definitely worth the visit. About a 2 hour walkthrough with a very good and varied collection of art - mode… Full review by GoPlaces24671907592

Yes, there is a restaurant at the museum. Gertrude's Chesapeake Kitchen. Indoor and outdoor patio seating. We ate there and had a delicious lunch. Reservations are required. For more info, go to either the Museum website (a link on the Visit page) or to the restaurant's website to see a menu and make reservations.
Is there a restricted age as I am planning to be a lone traveller at 16?

I do not think your age would prevent you from entering the museum. But I think calling ahead is a good suggestion. Things have gotten a bit rougher in Baltimore over the last few years. For example certain shopping centers are restricting teenagers from the premises unless they are accompanied by an adult.

Yes, not a large number but please see the Matisse paintings which are very special. Also do know this is a totally FREE museum; something very rare these days; and has a nice representative of many artists. You and anyone would do well to visit this museum plus the Walthers Art Museum while in Baltimore - both ate totally FREE and very special. Stay for a night or two if you can do it - my suggested itinerary would be (1) Baltimore Art Museum (2) Walthers Art Museum (3) Baltimore Opera House for a performance (4) Baltimore Symphony at Meyerhoff Hall and do stay at the Brexton Hotel - a cute & updated historical inn once home to the woman who brought down a King of England just before WW2 (if you've watched the History Channel you'll know who she is). All of those places are in the Theatre and Arts District and there is even a free bus running between them. Revolutionary War places are nearby too - Star Spangled Banner - the fort is there too. Try it all and enjoy! Lite T
Yes. Till January 29. There is an extra charge. Museum is great whether you see that exhibit or not. Some very fine Matisse in the permanent collection too.
