Lots of interesting history here. They have built several new buildings and more are in progress. Enjoyed touring the Kershaw house, which you can walk to from the Revolutionary War visitor center.… Full review by timmymel
If I have to choose between going to Charlestown area and seeing Fort Moultrie and Boone Hall Plantation, OR, going closer to Columbia area and seeing Camden Revolutionary War site and Historic Brattonsville, which should I choose? I have a 16 and 9 year old.

Charleston, More walking, but lots of fun. A lot more to offer for younger also. Consider Patriots Point, Battery, Waterfront Park etc. Exception would be to come to Revolutionary Camden during the reenactment which I believe is in early November. IF you come to camden consider one of the nice B&B homes in camden.
