NEW YORK - A Bronx man is recovering after several of his fingers were chopped off by a man with a machete. It happened at 11:24 a.m. Friday on Southern Boulevard near East 178th Street. The victim, 34, was rushed to an area hospital in stable condition.

The dude just swung the knife at me for no apparent reason,” victim Rakeem Tayquon Young said from his hospital bed Sunday.

A man in the Bronx was hospitalized after trying to protect his dog from a machete attack, resulting in the loss of four fingers. The suspect fled and is being sought by police.

One of the victim's family members says the attack happened after a dog dispute in the West Farms section of the borough on Friday. CBS News New York's Dave Carlin reports.
