Florida sued the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) director and an employee who was fired for telling a survivor assistance team after Hurricane Milton not to visit homes displaying

The lawsuit alleges that FEMA violated the civil rights of President-elect Donald Trump supporters in the aftermath of hurricanes Helene and Milton.

Fla. Attorney General Ashley Moody is suing Federal Emergency Management Agency Administrator Deanne Criswell, and a former FEMA supervisor for violating Floridians' civil rights after hurricanes.

Republican and Democratic leaders on Capitol Hill are preparing for a hearing next week with FEMA administrator Deanne Criswell, regarding alleged political discrimination after hurricanes Helene and Milton.

FEMA earlier this week said it fired an employee who advised her survivor assistance team in Florida to not go to homes with yard signs supporting Trump. FEMA said the matter was referred for investigation to the Office of Special Counsel.

The official, who has since been fired, said she was merely following protocol to avoid potentially hostile encounters.

Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody responded to reports that FEMA workers were told to skip over certain households in Florida based on political affiliation.

Florida has filed a lawsuit against officials FEMA over alleged discrimination of hurricane victims based on their political support for President-elect Donald Trump.

I am taking swift legal action to find out how far this political discrimination reaches,” Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody said in a statement.
