British Prime Minister Keir Starmer will say on Monday he wants the UK to become the world leader for artificial intelligence, promising to create special zones for data centres and encouraging more graduates to study technology-focused courses.

LONDON (Reuters) - Britain will go its own way on artificial intelligence regulation, Prime Minister Keir Starmer said on Monday. "I know there are different approaches (to AI regulation) around the world but we are now in control of our regulatory regime so we will go our own way on this," Starmer said.

The U.K. government under Labor Prime Minister Keir Starmer is set to announce a plan Monday to implement a massive increase in the country’s computing infrastructure in order to foster the growth of homegrown artificial intelligence startups that can rival the likes of OpenAI.
