Preliminary results in the race to represent District 1 on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors show longtime challenger Marjan Philhour narrowly ahead of incumbent Connie Chan on the fourth round of ranked choice voting.

Elections in odd-numbered supervisorial districts are on the ballot this year, and we're likely to see many new faces on the board once votes are fully counted. After three councilmembers coasted to re-election in the city of San Diego earlier this year, voters in the remaining two districts took to the polling booth on Tuesday to select their chosen representative for the next four years.
