Flood warnings have been issued for parts of South Yorkshire as river levels rise following heavy rain. The Environment Agency said the River Rother could become overwhelmed at both Woodhouse Mill and Beighton. The river level in both areas was expected to peak in the early hours of Tuesday.

Areas already hit by flooding could see persistent and often heavy rain throughout much of Tuesday, forecasters warned. The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning, covering every county in the East of England until 16:00 BST.
