The carrots, which were sold at supermarket chains nationwide, "should no longer be in grocery stores but may be in consumers' refrigerators or freezers."

A recall of organic, bagged whole and baby carrots sold at Trader Joe's, Publix, Wegmans and other retailers around the country has been linked to an E. coli outbreak, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Various organic whole and baby carrot products are being recalled, according to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration. This is following an E. coli outbreak investigation connected to contaminated carrots, resulting in 39 illnesses, 15 hospitalizations and one death.
