A round of strong to severe storms is possible Wednesday bringing a threat for tornadoes and locally heavy rain

A storm threat will develop on Wednesday as a cold front sweeps into the state. This extra lift will combine with Rafael’s old circulation to provide a good chance at storms. Some of these storms could be severe with damaging winds or a random tornado. The storm activity should wrap up as we go into the evening and overnight.

We could see some rounds of rough weather until around 6:00pm today. “Showers and thunderstorms will move through the area during the early afternoon,” WWL TV Meteorologist Payton Malone forecasts.
