St. Louis County Councilman Mark Harder is calling for an audit of the Prosecuting Attorney’s office under Wesley Bell. The call comes a day after the Missouri State Auditor released an audit into the St.

The St. Louis County Council is asking the state auditor to look into concerns of credit card use, travel expenses and mishandling of Sunshine Law requests.

On Tuesday, the St. Louis County Council appointed Councilwoman Rita Heard Days as chair and Councilman Dennis Hancock as vice chair amidst pending litigation. The new chairwoman is looking to get the charter change in front of voters on the April 8 ballot.

The St. Louis County Council discussed two major proposals Tuesday night: one that could eventually lead to them ousting County Executive Sam Page, and another that requests the state conduct an investigation into the county’s prosecuting attorney’s office that could lead to a full audit.

Melissa Price Smith has worked in the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney's office since 2008, where she served as assistant prosecuting attorney and supervisor of the office's sexual assault and child abuse team.

One of the ideas under consideration would allow the seven-member council to remove the county executive with five votes.
