The National Weather Service warns that a “potent winter storm system will bring a multi-faceted threat for significant weather hazards” to all Hawaiian islands starting Wednesday night.

Potentially damaging southwest wind, a risk for severe thunderstorms, flash flooding and heavy snow on the peaks of the Big Island’s volcanoes are all in the forecast.

"They are closely monitoring weather and having their crews be ready to respond to outages as long as conditions are safe for them to respond."
