India's injured quick Jasprit Bumrah will miss the five-match T20 international series with England, while Mohammad Shami has returned to the squad after more than a year out with an ankle injury, the Indian cricket board (BCCI) announced on Saturday.

Senior pacer Mohammed Shami, who last represented India in the 2023 ICC World Cup at home, has represented the Men in Blue in the shortest format just 23 times since making his debut in 2014.

The highlight of the squad for the five-match series is the return of pacer Mohammed Shami back to international cricket after 14 months.

Mohammed Shami has been included in India's squad for the five-match T20I series against England starting on January 22. Suryakumar Yadav leads the young Indian side with spin all-rounder Axar Patel being his deputy.

Interestingly, Axar Patel has been announced as Suryakumar Yadav’s deputy for the T20Is. Axar is also expected to be handed the captaincy by his Indian Premier League franchise Delhi Capitals for the forthcoming edition.
