San Francisco could see as much as six inches of rain over the next week as a moisture-packed storm known as an atmospheric river works its way south from the Pacific Northwest.

Most of the country experienced dry weather except for West and Gulf coasts, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor.

The San Joaquin Valley and surrounding areas were expected to see temperatures lower than 32 degrees Thursday morning.
