A man is facing arson and assault charges after investigators say he lit a fire meant to harm two people at a North Austin apartment complex Sept. 3.

Drivers are asked to avoid the area near the 10000 block of South Interstate 35 service road until further notice.

One person sustained life-threatening injuries in an apartment complex fire in Southeast Austin on Monday morning, the Austin Fire Department said. A resident called 911 at 7:54 a.m. and said she saw smoke and fire coming from a first-floor apartment balcony at the Bridge at Asher Apartments,
