Organic whole and baby carrots sold at grocery store chains including Trader Joe's, Wegmans, Whole Foods and Target have been recalled due to a risk of E. coli contamination.

The products should no longer be on grocery store shelves but may still be in consumers' refrigerators or freezers.

An E. coli outbreak linked to recalled carrots has led to dozens of illnesses in 18 states and one death, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said.
