The billionaire businessman has racked up some wins, and a few losses, since becoming a major MAGA power player.

Musk, the owner of car manufacturer Tesla and social media platform X, has been tapped by Trump to lead the proposed Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), with biotech entrepreneur and former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, after vocally supporting and financially backing his campaign for president.

It all happened thanks to Elon Musk. Congress was on a glidepath to heading home for the holidays without much agitation, but the framework of an earlier proposed deal blew up after Musk posted over 150 times on X urging House Republicans to reject what was in place and go back to the drawing board.

Nevertheless, the deals — and xAI’s developer and consumer-facing products — have driven xAI’s revenue to around $100 million a year. For comparison, Anthropic is reportedly on pace to generate $1 billion in revenue this year, and OpenAI is targeting $4 billion by the end of 2024.
