About 70% of Nebraska voters approved the legalization of medical marijuana on Tuesday with two initiative measures.

While Jefferson County does not have medical marijuana on the ballot, residents in more than 50 counties and cities around the state voted Tuesday on whether or not to allow cannabis businesses to operate in their regions. As of 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, no city or county ballot measure had failed.

The 2024 election results were mostly a mixed bag, leaning toward negative for the legal cannabis industry. But some industry leaders express optimism for the future.

Each of the 106 counties and cities in Kentucky with a ballot referendum approved allowing medical cannabis businesses to operate in their jurisdiction.

The results are in, and all of the Northern Kentucky cities that put medical cannabis operations on the ballot have passed them.

Only 13 counties have opted out of the program, while over 40% of the state left it up to the voters, according to state data.

Voters in cities and counties across the state are deciding whether to allow medical cannabis in their communities.
