A large chunk of Nintendo's library of in-game music cues and soundtracks is now available for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers via an app, Nintendo Music, released for iOS and Android. The app for mobile devices requires a Switch Online membership and prompts a login after the app is downloaded.

According to Sensor Tower, this new app for "active" Switch Online subscribers is estimated to have been downloaded by 265,000 smartphone users within the first day and went on to surpass 1.2 million downloads in just four days. Around 40 percent of these app downloads were in the US and about 15 percent of the downloads were in Japan.

Alongside their newest product, the Nintendo Alarmo, Nintendo has just released their first music app. Yes, you read that right, they published a music app that no one asked for before the Switch 2. What is Nintendo Music?

Nintendo Music also doesn’t credit the real humans involved in making a song. That means, curiously enough, that the fictional bands in Splatoon 3 have more prominence in Nintendo Music than the legendary Koji Kondo. (Nintendo has kind of a weird thing about credits at the moment .)
