A recall of organic, bagged whole and baby carrots sold at Trader Joe's, Publix, Wegmans and other retailers around the country has been linked to an E. coli outbreak, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. E. coli is a bacteria that can cause serious illness when consumed by certain populations.

The outbreak has been tied to multiple brands of recalled organic carrots sold by Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, Wegmans, Target, Kroger, Food Lion and Publix, among others, officials said.

The outbreak, detected across 18 U.S. states, is linked to carrots and baby carrots sold by brands such as Wegmans, 365, Trader Joe’s and Nature’s Promise.

The CDC has issued a Food Safety Alter after a muti-state outbreak of E. coli linked to organic carrots. According to the CDC, 39 cases of E. coli have been reported in 18 states in connection to carrots sold by Grimmway Farms.

Organic and baby carrots sold at grocery stores across the US have been recalled after an E. coli outbreak that has killed one person. So far, 15 people are in hospital and 39 cases have been reported across 18 states,

An outbreak of E. coli has infected dozens of people who ate bagged organic carrots, and one person died from the infection.

California’s Grimmway Farms recalled the vegetables, which have been linked to one death and dozens of illnesses.
