Valve is making a notable shift with its portable gaming strategy as Lenovo debuted a new edition of its Legion Go gaming handheld that runs Valve’s custom operating system.

The Legion Go S is a streamlined PC gaming handheld and the first with SteamOS since Steam Deck; the Go 2 is a full sequel. The Legion Pro 7i gaming laptop also gets a silicon boost.

It may have been one of the worst kept secrets in gaming hardware, but Lenovo's new Legion Go S is still real exciting. That's not only because this plucky handheld gaming PC packs one of AMD's new Z2 Series processors but also because it's available with SteamOS installed.

The company showed off new models -- including one with the first use of Valve's SteamOS -- in its handheld gaming console line.

At CES 2025, Lenovo announced a brand new handheld PC, the Legion Go S, and it runs Valve’s premiere operating system.
