With new details on the iPhone SE release date, Apple has a chance to capture a vital part of the smartphone market from Samsung.

Google has released a standalone iPhone app for its Gemini AI assistant. It means you can get access to Gemini directly from its own app on iOS, offering an alternative to Apple Intelligence while you wait for that to launch properly.

Since Apple Intelligence was revealed at Apple’s WWDC 2024 event in June, it’s been very slow to roll out, with many features still not in the hands of iOS 18 users. That will all change when iOS 18.2 gets the green light – and two sources have now indicated exactly when that might happen.

The full suite of Apple Intelligence features isn't quite ready for primetime yet, but you can at least test some of them out prior to their proper launch. Apple launched the third beta for iOS 18.2 this week.

OS 18.2's third developer beta offers ChatGPT integration in Siri, improved Camera Control features, and a new location-sharing option in Find My. The public beta is likely to launch next week, with the official release scheduled for December.
