A recall of organic, bagged whole and baby carrots sold at Trader Joe's, Publix, Wegmans and other retailers around the country has been linked to an E. coli outbreak, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. E. coli is a bacteria that can cause serious illness when consumed by certain populations.

Grimmway Farms is one of the world’s largest carrot growers, producers, and shippers. However, the company, which is headquartered in Bakersfield, California, recently drew public attention after recalling several sizes and brands of its bagged organic baby and whole carrots,

Walmart, Target, Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, Publix, Albertsons, Kroger and many other retailers sell carrots involved in the dangerous recall.

Thirty-nine people across 18 states became sick after they consumed organic whole and baby carrots sold by Grimmway Farms.
