As Golfweek reported last month, players on the United States Ryder Cup team are set to be paid for next year’s biennial bash at Bethpage Black in New York. The Telegraph in London reported Wednesday the Americans will be paid roughly $400,000 per player, and that figure is likely to be ratified.

The PGA of America is mulling a decision to pay members of the U.S. Ryder Cup team when the biennial competition is next played from Sept. 26-28, 2025 at Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, New York, per the Telegraph.

In any case, Ryder Cup players are compensated in different ways. The PGA of America gives each US player $200,000, half of which they can donate to a charity of their choice, the other half of which goes to the Boys & Girls Club of America, the Drive, Chip & Putt Championship, and the PGA Junior League.

Talks of Americans getting paid for the Ryder Cup have been brewing for decades. In 1999 at Brookline, Massachusetts (one of the most famous Ryder Cup weekends in the event’s history), golfers including Tiger Woods voiced their opinions on players not being paid despite the event raking in several million dollars.
