  1. Electric Blue Ram Breeding | Cichlid Fish Forum

Jan 23, 2011 · The color cells are in various layers, and the base yellow color of a Gold Ram would be covered up by the iridescence of the Electric Blue because the iridophores are the top layer of color cells. (An analogy would be the fact that a recessive Gold trait underlies the Red in Swordtails to make them Velvet rather than Brick Red.)

  2. Thinking of starting a small blue ram tank, questions?

Apr 18, 2011 · I have 1 electric blue balloon ram and 2 gold rams that I've had since I started the hobby and they are fine, no problems whatsoever. I even had an ich outbreak and only one of them got it and he shook it off with no problem, however my german blue ram did not make it through the ich outbreak. I would say try it.

  3. Are my Electric Blue Balloon Rams the same gender?

Mar 8, 2023 · (I don't know your experience level, but you have chosen a couple fish that I expect will need pretty exacting care. A lot of selective breeding went into creating electric blue balloon Rams, and hardiness and ease of care were not among the breeding objectives. They aren't a couple geraniums, they are tender orchids)

  6. Help! Rams keep dying - Cichlid Fish Forum

Oct 31, 2009 · Two things come to mind. One is the nitrates. Ouch. Blue rams are very sensitive to nitrates, so you will deffinately want to bring that down. Second is that a lot of blue rams are asian pond bred and imported, and aren't the healthiest stock when they first come in. Sometimes it is hard to find healthy blue rams in LFS.

  7. German Rams and Temperature | Cichlid Fish Forum

Oct 22, 2010 · Right now I'm keeping my tank around 81 degrees. In the tank (which is 55 gallons) I also have 3 red eye tetras, 2 zebra danios, 1 albino bristlenose pleco, and an electric blue lobster (who is going to be separated soon, he's a …

  8. how many dwarf cichlids in a 30? - Cichlid Fish Forum

Jul 4, 2011 · Also the blue rams won't do very well with the kribs and the bolivian in the tank. Especially if the kribs are a pair, and the same for the angels as they mature (they will get bigger). I'd personally take out the apisto and the bolivian and see how that works, but be prepared for the blue rams not to do too well with those other fish...

  9. Electric Blue Acara | Cichlid Fish Forum

Oct 9, 2014 · It's made by taking eggs or sperm from an Electric blue ram and then combining it with the opposite number from a blue acara. After that the fry are line bred until the color is stabilized. This process takes only a handful of generations whereas line breeding can take dozens or even hundreds of generations.

  10. Help?? My ram is being terrorized. - Cichlid Fish Forum

Aug 11, 2014 · I have had a male (?) German blue balloon ram living happily in my 30 gallon for about five months. He is typically a very energetic and aggressive fish and regularly defends the bottom of the tank against the large swordtails he lives with. In the past, he has been dominant over other much larger cichlid tankmates (angelfish, keyhole).
