If you take a look at the component charts of Kris Kross’ other hits, the big takeaway I see is that they placed higher on the Hot 100 than they did on the Rhythmic Top 40 chart.

Kris Kross made me "skip, skip". As a twelve year old boy at the time, I thought their choice to wear their pants backwards was suspect in the extreme. Perhaps the music was good, but I couldn't get past their pants.

Dupri was 18 when he discovered who would eventually be kriss kross. The diss of jump wasn't super necessary cause ABC was already falling off. Then there was Da Youngstas. Kriss kross dissed them too in their track "Alright" and then they fired back with "Crews Pop" youngstas didn't make much noise and then there was Illegal.

May 2, 2013 · Because, right around the same time that kriss kross became popular, the gangsta rap scene started to blow up. Suddenly it wasn't cool to rap like Will Smith or Salt n Pepper and album sales tanked. IIRC, kriss kross even tried to jump on the gangsta rap bandwagon, but were unsuccessful due to the popularity of "jump jump".
