Jul 19, 2018 · There are other things I disagree with, for example the gender of certain words like chammach (spoon), but that's more of a Hindi problem than it is a Duolingo problem. Conclusion: I like the course. It doesn't teach horribly difficult and formal Hindi like most sources do. The Hindi they use is natural and free-flowing.

Nov 25, 2022 · Duolingo Hindi also has several translation issues, and some correct, but "non-practical" translations. For example, their translation for "socks" is "जुराबें", instead of "मोजें", which is what is more commonly used. Additionally, their English representation of Hindi alphabets/sounds seem to be arbitrary to me.

Nov 19, 2017 · I would love if Duolingo added Urdu given they'll complete Arabic soon, they'd need to adapt to Nastaliq Urdu script (or keep it as Naskh) and change words e.g. no need for Hindi religious vocabulary and replacing other words with their Urdu counterpart.

Jan 24, 2020 · Duolingo was the first resource I used to learn Hindi. It's incredibly basic, and a little unfinished in places, but it was a great way to practice the basics consistently. Also, it's particularly good for learning the alphabet. But you'll outgrow it very quickly, it gets repetitive and covers only the most basic grammar and vocab.

Aug 19, 2019 · Easiest for an English native: Hindi Most spoken: Hindi (especially counting Urdu) Most useful: Depends on what you wish to do. Arabic is almost useless in Israel, Hindi only is useful in North India and Pakistan, etc. What I recommend: Go with your heart and your goals. I am Indian, so I don't need Arabic or Hebrew, so I learned Hindi.

If you want to strengthen and expand your vocab and get a bit more grammar I can recommend the Complete Hindi textbook from the Teach Yourself series. I used this book in university for Hindi and did the Hindi course at Duolingo simultaneously.
