The purpose of this paper is to explore the current state of the escape room industry through a large-scale survey. Because the contents of escape rooms are, by nature, kept a secret and it is a highly competitive marketplace, there are not resources publicly available to help those wanting to start or improve an escape room.
Abstract: Escape rooms are live-‐action team-‐based games where players discover clues, solve puzzles, and accomplish tasks in one or more rooms in order to accomplish a specific goal (usually escaping from the room) in a limited amount of time.
