As promised I ordered the Harbor Freight Tools double ratcheting crimper and am in the process of comparing it's construction, specifically the crimp dies, which are the important part, to the Ancor Double Crimp Ratchet Crimper. It was stated by some here that the HFT crimper was identical to the Ancor model.

Clean it, clean it again, West System the whole shooting match (deblushing between coats), barrier coat with a good paint (multilple coats), bottom paint. It will outlast you (except for the bottom paint).

Jun 2, 2016 · That is true for whatever method. Any stout pop-rivet tool will work. Coat the rivets and holes with your favorite goo: lanolin or gel or whatever. Isolate the block backing plate, which is presumably steel, from the boom with a layer of vinyl tape. Aluminum rivets will fail from corrosion without damaging the boom.
